UnEarthed Games, Where do you Hail from?

UnEarthed Games is a small independent game developer named Clint Brewer. Shambling out of the ancient forests of Tennessee, and finding its way to the western shores, UnEarthed Games secluded itself in the cold winter of 2004 mumbling something about fantasy role-playing games….

When last seen UnEarthed Games was unshaven and looked like it had been crawling around in dark caverns. It handed us a dirty scrap of paper with the following address:

UnEarthed Games
P.O. Box 30872
Santa Barbara, CA 93130

The secret code is: (+1) 650 – LEFT RIGHT LEFT – UP UP UP LEFT

Why UnEarthed Games?

unearthed meaning to dig up out of or as if out of the earth is the definition I was most interested in when coming up with a name. I was an archaeologist in a past life so unearthing artifacts is something I love.

One of my favorite parts of games is discovery as I explore a world. Of course, there is a strong tradition of exploring dungeons and caves in fantasy games, and that’s something I absolutely love. Hence the imagery of caves.

This joy of discovery is something I hope to bring in all my games, with secret doors, hidden passages, and dark cave entrances.

I’m sure all of this did influence the name, but I made a lot of that stuff up after the fact. Honestly, ‘Unearthed’ just sounds really cool to me. I hope it does to you too!

“Cave is a good word…. The memory of a cave I used to know was always in my mind, with its lofty passages, its silence and solitude, its shrouding gloom, its sepulchral echoes, its fleeting lights, and more than all, its sudden revelations….”
—Mark Twain, Innocents Abroad
